Instead, the recommendation of the European Glaucoma Society applies. According to her, the height of the target pressure should follow
- the extent of the already existing optic nerve damage;
- the age;
- the speed at which glaucoma progresses;
- the level of untreated intraocular pressure
A usual order of magnitude for the targeted reduction volume is 20-30%. This is especially true for the early stages. If the damage is more pronounced, an even more drastic 30-50% pressure reduction may be required.
