How can the scabies be recognized?

Characteristic of the scabies are tiny reddish nodules, which occur at typical localizations on the skin individually or flatly. Also typical is intense itching that gets worse at night.

Mite walks sometimes visible

Scabies are caused by mites. In some cases, the mite ducts below the uppermost skin layer are visible as fine, reddish-brown and up to 1 cm long lines visible to the naked eye. Then the diagnosis of scabies is relatively clear. This is often not the case. Either because the symptoms at first appearance (first onset) may still be quite weak. Sometimes the disease is expressed only by individual nodules on reddened skin. Or because the passages are becoming increasingly difficult to recognize over time, as they are quickly superimposed by scratch-induced, often purulent inflammation.

Scratching mite (Sarcoptes scabiei) Scratching mite (Sarcoptes scabiei)

Since the symptoms itching and flaky skin as well as eczematous changes are also typical for other illnesses, the scabies are sometimes only recognized, if before the other possible causes were excluded. The diagnosis can only be valid when the mite detection has taken place.

I have a question.
My girlfriend wrote to me yesterday that she has scabies. She has been away for two and a half (2 1/2) weeks - because of the work. I have no complaints yet, but I do not know if she got it there (at work) or here.
My question: Would I have already infected without noticing it so far? Wanted for safety tomorrow to the dermatologist.
In despair

Hello my dears!
Although I came across these comments some time ago, I hope to find someone who can possibly help me!
For about 3 months now we have the scabies - my little son (3 months), my partner and me.
In the meantime we are creaming for the 8th time. Unfortunately without success. And a completed inpatient treatment has brought nothing. Since my little one is still so young, you can not give him anything except the infectoscarb tablets that we got.
We have even treated our dog and of course, all hygiene measures strictly followed: Everything washed, vacuumed, disinfected, us umters moved on the day, changed the bed sheets, everything bagged, the mattresses wrapped in foil and the Chouch covered!
Nothing helps! We are desperate!
It's so hard to do it all. Still, the feeling remains that everything is in vain. I can not enjoy the great time with my little one, because in the meantime I have only "scabies" in my head in everything I touch.
Even in the hospital you can not help us. Constantly they say something else. Try that and that again. I have the feeling that I believe that I would not clean at home anyway and do everything like that!
The inpatient stay was bad for us! Because it's not easy to keep a baby busy without toys all day long. In addition, they said (in the hospital), my son had to sleep naked because they had no clothes for him and he should not use ours.
Are we of the opinion that it is getting more and worse?
How long did it take you to get the diagnosis "scratch free"?
Maybe someone has tips on Maxi-Cosi and stroller? I can not get out because of the scabies!
It's just unbearable ...
Scrabble or not?

Hello, this post is already older, but maybe someone can help me with the same problems.
I probably got the scabies at Christmas last year when I was visiting my family.Did not notice anything and thought then in January because of my exam phase, I had because of the stress hives, in February it was my friend (we sleep in a bed, so do not panic, you quickly do not put on!).
We went to the dermatologist and tried about 5 times the cream, but it did not work. Then the tablets once 6 pieces and the cream .. again nothing. Then we came to the dermatology clinic in Göttingen for 4 days and thought we were over the mountain .. there we took the cream with 8 tablets. After that, we thought it was gone. Was not it !!! Again to the dermatologist, she said, she could not do anything (also great to hear that!), Then we begged her, because it had gone away with my brother with two tablets in a row, to prescribe these too. We then took them every two weeks. Then we made another treatment with a cream that can be ordered without a prescription.
That's about 3-4 weeks ago. I still just do not know if we've made it, it still itches, but we can sleep and have no pimples, or I just think after itching. The itching is not extreme, but should not it go away? Is our skin just too sensitive? Cream but always busy. The hygiene can not have been lacking, as they have explained to us in the clinic with our measures for crazy .. we have even brought allergy bedding, which keeps mites and the like. from.
I do not know what is now .. am I really crazy now and get in? We are desperate and now extremely depressed .. the scabies have been around for a 3/4 year now, no one dares to invite anyone home anymore so our new apartment was as good as anyone. And everywhere are sacks of clothes. Find fellow sufferers and people who can give me hope !!
Scabies .... where from?

Hello my dears,
Now I would like to share my "scabies experience" with you. It started harmless with a strange bump on the right foot! At first I thought I might have ingrown hair because I often have problems with it (as an epilator). But not on the foot;). The part did not go away and I searched for the hair, disinfected; cream ... nothing, the thing remained.
Now; 8 weeks later: I have 8 of these things on the right leg and 2 on the left. I am struck by an uneasy feeling; These are definitely not ingrown hair! It does not itch; have it only on the legs. Yesterday I was able to detect a gangrene from one ulcer to the next and was already scared to have sepsis from my own hair removal / needle / tweezer treatment.
Now I was sure ... that's scabies! Despite being a very well-groomed person, I immediately felt dirty and ashamed. Nevertheless I am today to the doctor, whom I could hardly look into the eyes, and he confirmed my fear (clearly courses under the skin recognizable). Just the thought of it, lets me out of the skin!
Now the exciting:
We can not explain WHERE !!!!
1st single for 3 years
2. New bed and mattress (unused) Erstverwender! -
3.New couch (unused)
4.Not been in the tropics
5. Did not sleep elsewhere
6. Exclusively on the legs and without itching
In the middle of February a friend of my son slept with us; The boys got my bed and I slept on the couch.
3 days ago we were swimming. Have worn an ordered jeans without previous wash. Can one of the events already be enough or even be possible for a contagion ????
I have been prescribed infectiscab and cream my tots with a.
PS: I have this evening (ointment I get until tomorrow morning) sprayed with vinegar / water from head to toe. Would be happy about fellow / speculators!
Recognize scabies

Hello Stephie,
everything is actually on this page. Look under "When do the first symptoms of scabies appear?"

Hello, my daughter was training on Saturday and there was a girl with scabies. When will my daughter be contagious if she got infected? It's contact sports, I'm not crazy about it now, but I can not rule out that she has it, I can not. And she also goes to school, and she has siblings too! I worry that she might be contagious by now!

In my report, a typographical error has crept in:
The magnification of the light microscope is 60 or 100. I also bought on eBay 2 disposable overalls, because you will certainly no longer come into contact with the cattle, as well as cotton gloves and once plastic slippers. Then the critters at home should not be able to approach you anymore. Cooking, cleaning out the dishwasher, remove clean laundry, I do at the moment only with disposable latex gloves, you get cheap at DM or Rossmann.
Please write to me if you have any questions.

Have the nice critters already 3 months. Now I have dealt in detail with the topic.
Bath oil (olive oil) + tea tree oil in the bath, and then bath for 20 minutes at about 30 °. Helps against itching and dry skin.
Permithrin ointment unfortunately not helped. Came again! Now I try it with tablets that unfortunately can not get in Germany. A doctor must write them down in private and you can then order them at any pharmacy. But takes about 10-14 days, because they have to be ordered from abroad! 10 pieces cost about 100 euros.
My schoolmate is a director and doctor at the health department. And he told me that it definitely goes away! It's called Stromectol! After 7 days repeat the treatment again. Attention: The number of tablets to be taken depends on the weight. So, I weigh 90 pounds and have to take 6 pieces. Do I have to buy, otherwise I can not get out of the number anymore.
Against the itching, I rub my skin with water-diluted vinegar.
If you already have thick inflamed pustules, they certainly need to be prescribed with an antibiotic ointment, by the doctor, because you have already scrubbed bacteria through the scratches.
Of course, the whole burden of washing clothes is also added. My school friend told me that the critters would not survive an hour out there, they just dry out. And they take about 50 minutes to penetrate the skin. So a handshake is not bad, but the other should still wash his hands afterwards. I always wear leather gloves now, so I protect the other.
And I've bought a small microscope & 0-fold magnification on ebay. Costs about 4 euros. There you can look at your "dearest" friends. Usually the doctor does not look so exactly. The magnifying glass is also available at 100x magnification, as the little ones are suddenly quite big !!
Please inform yourself on the internet! You will not be stupider I have bought several books on dermatology on eBay to find even more information. But that was not worth it in my opinion. But slowly I'm an expert and can understand a lot better.
My hope for all concerned is that you get rid of all this disease, because it really consumes the nerves. If it does not work with the tablets, I definitely go to a dermatology clinic! When you get home, all animals are dead! 100% strength.
So good luck to everyone!

Navigator Team
Hello Franzi,

You have to go to the doctor in any case, even if you had so much bad luck with it so far. But then go to another one.
We can not recommend it from here because we do not know enough about you in your area.

All the best and kind regards

please, please, help me.
In May I picked elderflowers, directly on the Rhine in a nature reserve. Storks and birds of all kinds live there. Well, I have pulled down from the top of the branches with the most beautiful flowers. Certainly nests of parasites came over me. But it started to itch violently. I showered, as always. at night it started, violent stinging, everywhere. Itching on the head, in the face.
The next morning I had on the thighs, poor little red stitches. Beds taken off, everything was washed. The next morning it was even worse. My stomach, my legs - a long time healed - were bleeding. I caught and collected those wee little critters.
Conclusion: I was with 2 general practitioners, 2 dermatologists, 1 veterinarian, she was not allowed to treat me. Was until now the only one who looked at my head with a magnifying glass. a pharmacist had printed a page from the clinic in Heidelberg for me. Parasitology, I went there.
What I experienced there, adventurous.
This doctor, with over 25 years of experience, told me without even looking at me, I could not have such a thing. That would happen to the homeless, who are drunk for a long time in the rain in the gutter. That could happen. I would be a well-groomed woman. In our dermatological clinic, people have rejected me, that was too long ago, they have no place.I should go to Wiesbaden or Frankfurt to the clinic. I gave my good couch to the bulky waste, because it had teemed, if I had sat on it freshly showered or laid down.
Box by box, I bought bug spray, sprayed me in at night, under the covers, on my head. Have cigarettes boiled and poured the broth over my head. The fleas and lice and other little bugs just jumped like that. But on every hair, millimeters stick tiny globules. They do not turn and do not dodge. I've been stung all over my body. I assume that these beasts have laid eggs / nests.
Now it stings me, though no animal is there, but when I'm reaching for it, I feel little pustules. They do not heal too. Every night I start, my bedding in the dryer, hair wash 2 to 3 times, rub Fenistil and and and ... I'm nervous at the end. I got my apartment under control with a fogger. Does not use much, because these parasites are nocturnal.
I'm looking for a doctor who will examine me and finally help me.
I pray for help.

Many are allergic to parapens, which are present in almost all creams, sun products and body creams, etc., my granddaughter has this allergy. Beware of products where parapens are attached. Maybe have a test done !!

But it must also add that itching can also be caused by nerves! If it does not stop itching, maybe visit a neuropathic? In my opinion, it can also have psychological causes. Nervousness?

also had scabies 30 years ago. There were no bubbles! There were real scabies known as squares here. Got a means to cream. I was not allowed to shower and wash for 5 days. Otherwise no specifications. But helped a lot and then it was going on. But no longer knows, as it is soooo long ago, the name of the ointment no more. best regards

I have been suffering from severe itching for weeks and unconsciously scratching myself. The dermatologist says it's scabies. The family doctor says it is not scabies. All ointments do not help. What should I do and who has experience with this suffering?
